lol - took me a minute to 'get it' but this shot is funny - thanks for the smile and nice job capturing all three so close together.

Haha, I like the idea, and I do think it fits the challenge. I think you did the best you could with the time of day. I wish the reflections on the rocks could have been taken down quite a bit -- they're so bright compared to the rest, it makes it feel quite busy. I wonder if a polarizer would have taken down the reflections on the rocks? (That really is a question -- I know it will take down leaves, not sure about rocks. :)

I like the title. The photo seems a bit busy to me. If there were some better background separation, that may help, but their natural camouflage is so close in color to the rocks that it makes your subject blend in.

Maybe if he had a fish on the line, I could accept that this meets the challenge.

Very nice shot, busy yes, but you can't walk up to him and ask him to move to a better spot; 7 from me

Richard, yet another wonderful ram shot!

While I agree with you that it is high contrast at the micro level, the extent of the textures throughout created by the background and the coat of the animal give the image a decidedly gray feel on the larger scale. Hence, it comes across as lower contrast because there are not large sections of dark and light to provide the overt contrast viewers expected.

I've studied this for a while, and I'm not seeing anything wrong. I hope you describe what I'm missing in the notes.

Gorgeous animal! Would prefer that he stood out from the background a tad more; it just feels busy to me. But he's really impressive in that bright sunlight. The light and shadows really bring out his musculature.
