Tall Yellowby paynekjComment by indigo997: Yes it is yellow. Fits the challenge. However, I don't think the subject is interesting enough to stand out in 250 entries. I do like the angle that you chose to shoot from, and the colors are nice. Exposure/lighting is good. The post is dirty though and just a little too... mundane to be a strong image. Good practice shot probably but not the best choice to enter in a popularity contest (which is basically what dpc is). You need to find subjects that will appeal to a wide audience. Whether we like it or not, pretty shots and those that make you say "wow" will usually do well. Good luck! |

Tall Yellowby paynekjComment by bod: I can honestly say I've never seen one of these from this angle before! Great thinking and good composition, the leaves fill out the top of the frame nicely. Well done. |

Tall Yellowby paynekjComment by Lustre: Please tell me what this is. It's a great photo - very interesting angle with a good focal point. It's also naturally yellow, which is a bonus. Well done. |

Absent Squares by paynekjComment by timj351: Critique Club critique
I'm a little late getting to this, sorry.
I just love images like this. They are fun to look at. You can let your eyes wander around from detail to detail. I wouldn't change too much about this photo except for maybe showing a little more of the links on the fence, but I would have to experiment with it to know for sure. The colors and textures are just wonderful and not overly sharpened or saturated, I'm glad to say. The composition is very nice with a good use of angles. You handled the depth of field very well by keeping the background blurry so that it contrasts very nicely with the fence. even the subtlety of reds in the grass matches nicely with the red color in the fence. This is a very clean image, it meets the challenge nicely, and I think it is appropriately cropped. Good job.

Absent Squares by paynekjComment by Bullwinkle: A wonderful use of shallow selective DOF. The crisp feel and texture of the wood and galvanized fence are visually deliciouso. The rust stain bit is the coup de grace. Good strong rural theme. The angled composiotion is a perfect choice along with the close up view. Very well done! |
