I like the idea - the silouette of the cat against the curtains. The bits of light peeking through. Perhaps cropping would bring the subject more into focus (figureatively) I'd crop the right hand side out at the division of the window leaving the height of the picture the same, curtains towersing above the cat, as (s)he longingly gazes at the forbidden world outside. Yeah, I have cats.

I like the use of backlighting. Very effective. I see a little bit of grain, not sure if it was added in post-processing or a result of low light condition. I think it adds character to the photo so it's not a bad thing. 8

This one gave me a more imprisoned feel rather than impending freedom. As you yourself said, could be a bit of a reach! The focus and tonal range is also hurting this one IMHO.
