the view is awesome ... your house looks cozy and warm and its a lovely family scene that you've photographed ... love the b&w, it works so well in this image .. tried b&w with some of the photos i've taken around here, but they seem to have worked better in colour ...
that snow .. so different from where i live . .. looking out my window to compare it just now and yuk ... grass just about eaten down to the dirt ... trees leaves looking all limp from lack of water and dull coz of the coating of dust ... sky .. nothing interesting there at all .. it is 6.46am and overcast, but the clouds have no form at all .. just one big expanse of sameness ...
on the positive side, i love the heat and hate the cold!! ... and i just love living where i do ... i feel very blessed and lucky ... its just not that photogenic!! ... i love looking at your winter snow shots and others in this 30 day thing ...

IMO if it doesnt work in real life, a scene or subject that is, and its possible to improve or just change the general feel of it, then great!! ... its very difficult when you're subject is either unattractive, like it is around where i live at the moment, or uninteresting .. it seems that digital photography combining with photoshop or other software programs is changing the entire world of photography ... things that are straight from the camera just dont have that edge anymore and we seem to be impressed with the slick and possibly dramatic results that we get in photoshop ... i dont know if there's a good or bad to this ... its just the way it is ... suits me coz i love photoshop and want to learn as much as i can ... looking back on stuff i used to do with very little knowledge and stuff i do now i can see an improvement .. hoping for more improvements .. and SOON !!!...

stunning shot and love the composition .. as a thumb i thought it was water ... did i get a surprise!!! lol ..... from a sort of island beach scene to a winter icey snow scene in the space of a heartbeat ...

I really like how the border blends in with the inky black row of trees.
Very minimalistic, I like it.
But I have to say I'd prefer a tiny bit cropped off the top - the sky is good, but it would be nice to be nearer the thirds imho.
