I think the eyes are overdone here compared to the rest of the portrait

I love the angle of this. I think his eyes are over-processed.

Comment by Stiger:
I like the angle and the thoughtful expression, but you may have taken the saturation on the eyes a little too far. They don't look natural (maybe it's just my monitor). Otherwise, it's a very nice shot.

I am not so mad about the lighting here or the low angle

This is a good photo, but when I picture great photos of older people, I always see them in black and white. Unfortunate that this had to be a color photo, eh?

286th place? I am astounded; I really did expect to see this in the top 30 at the very least! I gave it a 10, although viewing it agin I would probably drop that to 9 - the phto could do with a bit more in the black range - on my moitor I can't actually see any true blacks. I reckon this is one to work on more - in particular look at alternative ways of converting to B&W; I don't have the full version of Photoshop, but I have heard that using the channel mixer can produce the most satisfying results.

There's a poignant frisson between the title and the photo. She seems sad and vulnerable in a non-starlet sort of way. She seems instead like a regular person with make-up and fancy lights. I identify with her instead of desiring her or desiring to be her. I feel what I imagine she is feeling. Interesting to note that the camera is not merely observing in this case, but is actually an active contributor to her vulnerability and sadness. I feel almost as though I am hurting her and feeling her hurt at the same time, an awkward but moving experience. 9

she has a lovely face that i think could have been more of the focus of the picture.
