This is one of the best images from my first semi-nude shoot. It was so much fun and the model (a good friend) was very relaxed and wonderful to work with.

A special thanks to my buddy Steve for loaning me his lighting kit.

Some healing brush work to fix minor imperfections on the model's skin.
Converted to greyscale.
Softened with Guassian Blur (except eyes and lips).
Resized for challenge specs.

Thanks so much for the comments. I edited this image BEFORE I calibrated my monitor. Now I can see how bad it looks and realize why I didn't score higher. Quite frankly now all my pictures look crappy with a calibrated monitor. Oh well, I guess you live and you learn. For converting to B&W I think I am going to try this technique next time:

Has a great 50's movie feel to it.

There's a poignant frisson between the title and the photo. She seems sad and vulnerable in a non-starlet sort of way. She seems instead like a regular person with make-up and fancy lights. I identify with her instead of desiring her or desiring to be her. I feel what I imagine she is feeling. Interesting to note that the camera is not merely observing in this case, but is actually an active contributor to her vulnerability and sadness. I feel almost as though I am hurting her and feeling her hurt at the same time, an awkward but moving experience. 9

she has a lovely face that i think could have been more of the focus of the picture.

it does evoke the 40's or 50's starlet image. Perhaps darkening the pillows would have placed more emphasis on her.

WOW - if it weren't for the French manicure, I'd swear this was taken in the 40's. Stunning light.

Well done. Very mid 1900's Hollywoodesque.
