Distant Memoriesby adeldeganComment by adeldegan: Ya, well it turns out that I don't care for the false eye color either. I should have trusted my instinct and left the eyes alone :(

Starletby adeldeganComment by adeldegan: Originally posted by SaraR: 286th place? I am astounded; I really did expect to see this in the top 30 at the very least! I gave it a 10, although viewing it agin I would probably drop that to 9 - the phto could do with a bit more in the black range - on my moitor I can't actually see any true blacks. I reckon this is one to work on more - in particular look at alternative ways of converting to B&W; I don't have the full version of Photoshop, but I have heard that using the channel mixer can produce the most satisfying results. |
Thanks so much for the comments. I edited this image BEFORE I calibrated my monitor. Now I can see how bad it looks and realize why I didn't score higher. Quite frankly now all my pictures look crappy with a calibrated monitor. Oh well, I guess you live and you learn. For converting to B&W I think I am going to try this technique next time:
Greg Gorman BW Conversion

Distant Memoriesby adeldeganComment by digitalknight: shooting up one's nose is generally frowned upon, and I agree with that rule (not a rule really, more of a guideline) - and the eyes need to be about 70% less artificial green. A little color there goes a long way. |
