it's very odd, seeing all tehse children on dpc growing up, feeling like you know them, yet knowing you'll probably never meet them.

That's one hell of a modelling couch. Very funky looking, makes for a great casual portrait like this. A wonderful composition - the height really works well. Interesting energy to the whole thing. Though lovely just as is, I'm picturing a white furry thing like a sheepskin at the foot of the couch and disappearing out of frame, giving another sense of texture.
