well here is my opinion,

technically all your shots are pretty good, you mastered your camera and you know your way around it,

the key is how to present your subject and how to impress the viewer,

i am not a still life photographer, so i can't tell you how much it relates to the challenge, but probbaly some viewers thought it did not.
another thing alhtough the lighting is great, the image is missing a kick, in other words it does not get a reaction from me(except of course it's a techincally good pic).
for example when i saw de sousa's shot i was like DAMN that's good.

i hope that was helpful

based on the top 10 , i think this should have scored higher, the focus is great, the composition is right on. i guess from what i read people were not sure what this is , hence they voted you down

i need to get a graduated ND myself, this is agreat shot, basically the clouds gives it this surreal feeling.

this shot is exceptional , the clouds really make this shot, and it makes you feel how small we are.

the yellow cast , the oversharpening, and the negative space, are what killed the image.

this should have done better with a tigheter crop , and cooler colors.

Great use of tone mapping, my only take is that the orange is tooo oevr saturated, so it took away from the image, if it was not for that i think this would have scored even higher!

althought the shot is a low key shot, it does not have any reaction from me when i look at it, maybe if there was more light on the eye of the model , that shot would have done better.
on top of it the light reflection ont he right side of the face create a harsh spot instead of being evenly diffused over the whole face.
