Comment by Wraith Ravenscroft:
I eggs pecked almost all of the shots were contrived this week - but this one has a great feel because, depite the blemishlessness (?!) of the ovine subject, the overall image captures a natural mood with good earthy colours and no pretension.

I almost submitted a similar photo. Nice job. I like that the shadow is on this side of the hand. I would have liked to see it in color as well. 7

Composition - Good subject for yellow. One I thought might get done to death. Looks like you shot this on a pretty crummy day. It looks very dreary and honestly it doesn't help your pic at all because a) it looks very dreary for the background and b) There needs to be a little more light/exposure for this picture. The ugly green garage in the back is also not helping matters. The composition to me, is fair. A better day, maybe pretty good. I think you could've done a lot more things if you were inside the fence, but that's sorta what its there for. Cropping some of the stuff off the top of this photo and making it semi-panoramic might have been a good idea. The trees above the barn aren't helping this image.

Technical - A really well taken photo. You sort of lose a little of the wheels from being slightly underexposed. This is one of those pics I could see actually desaturating all the colors but yellow to see if you can make it seem a little less dreary. I'm suprised the trees behind the garage got a little fuzzy at f8 from this far away. Maybe it's just the distance.

Overall - This is a pretty good picture taken on a pretty bad day. Very well taken. You did well with what you had to work with and I think the voting showed that. Good job and good luck in the upcoming weeks' challenges. - Bob

um wow... I might be the only one that sees the art in this (grainyness, framing, black and white) but my opinion should be held as very vaild in the "real" artistic community.... AMAZING JOB... 10

I guess it isn't winter there right? So you must be in the southern hemisphere! Great photo you took, the composition is spot on, and the challenge you met as well. I love the texture of the water.

Excellent representation of 'despair' in this shot... I love the sharp contrast and the grain on this image... a definite 10 in my book :) - setzler

Although it seems a little grainy, that adds to the atmosphere and to the feeling of despair which you've captured quite nicely.
