Thanks for the comments. This was my 35mm f/2 lens reversed on the camera and I had it at f/22 but this was the most DOF I could achieve. I tried to focus on the cogs nearest the center because they had the best color, and I thought it helped show just how many layers were going on inside that thin little watch. I knew it would get marks off for lacking focus/sharpness at the front and back but it was my first attempt at macro so I was happy with it.

At first I entered a close-up of the watch face, but someone's comment on this shot in my portfolio made me switch them to see how it would do. I entered the other shot in my local photography challenge and it got an HM.

A nice composition but the focus is on the cogs at the back of the picture which makes the whole thing look very soft, either focusing on the front cogs or a greater DOF would aave helped this shot

Thanks for the comments ... all 2 of them!

It is not a Prezwalski's, but is in fact a Mongolian or Asian Wild Horse. I didn't have a good angle on him at first, but then moved to this spot where the composition and so forth looked better. This was the first and only shot I got off in that spot before my battery died and he moved away before I could get it changed out, so this is the shot I had to work with.

I tried to fix the color balance, green saturation, and levels to separate him more from the background as was pointed out, but it caused the photo to get too yellow and then the horse took on an unnatural tone, so I felt that this was the best I could muster from this particular image with the Basic Editing limitations. It scored about what I figured it would, but landed in a much lower position overall than I thought it would. Oh well.

Your subject blends into the background. Very natural. I'd like a shallower DOF (but nobody but me likes shallow DOF).

Still, nice shot. I'm giving you an average score.

Good luck.
