There was a lot of work put into this. The background might have been improved if the jello was placed on a clear surface and then raised above the white surface so there was a distance between the background and the jello. That way everything would look smoother.

Thanks for the wonderful comments. Unlike other people's entries, this is not the light source, but the light being shined on a surface, in this case a door. I had a flashlight with some tape over it, which created an unusual "brush shape". Then I went right up to the door, so that for all intents and purposes I was drawing on the door with the flashlight, except that I was working blind. That was how I was able to get the variation in line width and intensity. The white lines that were mentioned were from planks in the door.
