Watching My Own Existenceby posthumousComment by agenkin: A very nice alegory, I'll need to remember it. Would not get it from the picture, though; it would be helpful if the boy's reflection were somewhat in front of him, to infer that he is looking at it, and not something else. The composition is good - you have your fore-, middle, and background going nicely. |

my thought exactly! perhaps it being an abstract challenge made voters more tolerant of the lack of a subject, the flatness, etc. Then again, I've been known to bomb in abstract challenges as well. I have no clue why this made top 20. That's why I can still suck! |

perspective from the mousetrapby posthumousComment by L1: I thought this was an interesting image...I like the noise and the overall sense of impending doom. ;) I agree that the foreground is a bit large, and would like to see more roof...but overall there is a good emotive quality to it. :) |

Onion on Woodby posthumousComment by raish: Does this leave the good ship suck without a captain?
It's a canvas of a shot - all those things like cropping and balance-within-the-frame and such that I prefer to see than name, are seen and don't need to be named.
This should not have succeeded here as there are # no large fields of primary colour # no hyper-saturation # no unbroken areas without texture to set off the subject. There's hope for us yet.
You might say the understatement sets it off.
Well did. |
