A Rose for Grandmaby 777STANComment by Venom: This feels almost too much like a B&W to be sepia.
If you could've added a little red and taken out some blue it would've had just a touch more "tan/brown/sepia" color to it. -BB |

Week #14: HoneysuckleBush!-(49)-V14B&Wby 777STANComment by 777STAN: Thanks! I see your point! The edits are done! (See above!) I suppose my only concern is that some might think that nothing is in sharp focus in the left-oriented composition, but who knows? Understand your concerns over the business of the right half, and am glad that I'm not the only one who saw that...It is so hard with a subject, like a honeysuckle vine to find the perfect composition! There is always something going on with that plant!
Anyhow, here's hoping that my eye will become all-the-experienced with time! :) Message edited by author 2008-05-03 09:12:46. |

Week #14: HoneysuckleBush!-(49)-V14B&Wby 777STANComment by ErikV: The left half of the photo by itself is great, with the one open flower and a few closed ones - nice simple elegance. The right half, on the other hand, is very busy and disorganized, and detracts from the left half. Would suggest cropping out the entire right half. |

The Regal Hibiscusby 777STANComment by gerdagrice: I think this image would benefit by being cropped down to just below the very bright out of focus red petal of the upper flower. This would make for a roughly square format, which I think would suit this subject. The OOF upper flower and the negative space above it seem to me not to add anything of value to your image and to distract from your, well lit, sharply focused photo of the lower flower. |
