As the others have said before, focus is the issue. I think a higher aperture would've helped out a bit. I would've gone for 2.2 with that lens when doing portraits, then slow down the shutter to about 1/80. I love portraits and when you focus on the nose, the eyes may be quite soft to work with in close with your software to touch things up.

Creative...wish those lines were a bit cleaner though and that yellow pencil you're holding didn't draw those lines, maybe just a plain old pencil (w/ yellow sides though) would look more convincing.
