In the Still of the Nightby brettt83Comment by noraneko: I realize you can't fix a horizon in minimal, but it is so skewed it's unfortunately distracting. Otherwise, very cool idea with the single palm tree in front of the opera house. |

In the Still of the Nightby brettt83Comment by Citadel: Quite crooked. I presume this was on a tripod? I believe you can get a spirit level for your hotshoe for relatively little money and it will help keep things straight. Even without it you have a pretty clear horizon line here to act as visual guide to level things out.
That aside I like the fresh look on a much photographed subject. |

In the Still of the Nightby brettt83Comment by 777STAN: Superb view of the Sydney Opera House at dusk! Quite unique in effect & feel. Sadly, IMHO the palm tree silhouette (while qualifying this photo for the tree competition) actually distracts from an exquisite location photo. Improvements? If you had stepped left or right about 5-10 feet to physically crop out the palm tree and level the fencing at the water's edge (by sight) it would be a 10 in another contest, like the February, 2007 Free Study, but don't try it now...Boarder-Line DQ! :( |
