Good idea but a little bit too cluttered for my taste, would have liked this better with fewer and stronger photos on the wall. 6 from me.

Not sure if taking pictures of other pictures is allowed. I hope so, because this entry is unique and stands out to me. I enjoyed looking at it, and the similarity of the subject matter adds to the experience. Good job.

Comment by TrynityRose:
So you converted the prints to negative and printed them out so they would look positive in the negative image? Hehe that's clever! Really neat effect too.

This has a snapshot feel to it. Which is okay if that is your objective.

Hi from the Critique Club. Here is the critique you requested.

Hopefully I can give you some valuable comments regarding this picture. If you have any questions just PM me and I'll be sure to answer if I can:)

First Impression: Im struck by the cargo ship which occupies 2/3 of the horizon line. Something seems just a little off kilter.??

Composition: Something seems a little off on this one. IMO, its almost as if the cargo ship is too dominant and the sunken boat hull/frame loses some of its impact as a consequence. I love the shape of the sunken boat with the old pier and possibly the picture would have been stronger if you would have emphasized that shape and its brokeness by cropping out the other ship. NOt sure, but you might play around with it. This looks like it was a tough subject to get a good angle for shooting. The brush in the foreground distracts slightly but also helps the feeling of abandonment.

Technical: I like the BW-makes it look old and decrepit(sp?). Focus seems a little of but that may be due to a longer telephoto lens at 1/160. YOu have a good range of tones in the picture from darks to whites.

Challenge: DPC likes color?!? IMHO, more focus on the broken boat would have helped by making the picture less dependant on its title. I'm by no means an expert but just my thoughts. Also, soft focus is a killer here-not sure if it soft because of above reason or maybe processing to 640pixels hurt the fine detail.

Anyway, keep shooting with the RAW. YOu'll like it alot and may I suggest Rawshooter Essentials for the RAW processing (good, intuitive, and FREE). Keep it up and I'll look for more from you.

Hi! Here’s a comment from the Critique Club.

First Impression:
Looks like a person standing beside a character with big ears and a hat!

Composition:
Very monotone in terms of colour. Nothing of interest to catch your eye. Including more of you legs may have helped. The “shadow” dominates the image vs being a focal point of interest.

Subject:
You did capture your shadow, so you met the challenge. Unfortunately you didn’t capture your shadow in a very interesting setting

Technical:
Colours are flat, and the added blur softened any contrast you may have been able to create.

Summary:
After reviewing your portfolio, this is not one of you better picturesâ€Â¦.
