Comment by Malokata:
Great, you've got the song stuck in my head. Hm. The right side seems a bit washed out and/or overexposed. And to get the "lollipop" concept across, you might have included some of the pole (stick).

Comment by Anachronite:
a lower apature setting would give more depth of field bringing some of the farther away trees into focus... which I would like better... and a more even crop so the trees on each side are spaced evenly from center would help too... but you did make a nice choice of subjects for the competition...

Road to nowhere is a bad title for a road with a bunch of footprints on it! That or, alot of people go nowhere.

The perspective - horizontally and vertically - is really good. Great shot!

You have choosen a very good vantage point from which to take this picture. I have been on lanes like this, and have several views like it in my area. I believe your lower camera placement is the key to the success of this picture. I enjoy this shot.

Composition - It is very difficult to tell what it is without the title. This pic is almost clear, but not quite and photos like this suffer on dpc. This is a strange perspective for this picture. It it were taken a little further back and included more of the croc's face it would've been better. Maybe a 3/4 view where we could see both eyes. The small size of the pic doesn't help nor does the large border. It makes the pic seem even smaller.

Photography - The picture is slightly out of focus. A major strike for this type of "macro". At the ISO it was shot, it is minimally grainy. It was a pretty long exposure too which is leading me to believe that is the reason for the focus problem.

Processing - Not much to speak of here

Overall - I can see both sides of the fence on this one now that I have some exif data to reference. On one hand, the general composition is not that bad. I would prefer to see it differently, but I see where you were going with this. On the other hand, the softer focus is hurting you. If this pic was not taken right under the beast's nose, the soft focus might not hurt so bad. A shallow DOF (like a macro) doesn't seem like it works real well with an alligator or croc taken from the front since his snout is so long. This has a lot of potential, but there are a few things that need honing to make this a really good pic. - Inspzil

Looks like where I live. Technically, this is a well done shot. You got a nice snow photo, which is often difficult to do. I like the dark trees, and the bright ground. It's a nice balance there. The angle and framing/cropping is good. You put your 'horizon' line in a nice spot. Focus and clarity look good as well.. not a shot to make me jump out of my seat with excitement, but still very well done. Good job, and good luck in the challenge.

I liked the verticle, but would have rated it higher is more foreground and less trees.
