This is a very good take on the way these trees look. The sunlight through the hole is a key feature in this too.
We have the same trees here, and call them "strangler figs". Birds drop the seeds on trees where they sometimes sprout, and eventually they kill the host tree. It gives the fig trees a great advantage over trees that have to grow from the ground up to get to the sunlight.
