Breast Cancer.by Dona_kComment by annig: I don't know if this is a self portrait or not, but the model is a brave woman! no matter how this finishes in the challenge, CONGRATS to her for making it through her treatment, and for having the COURAGE to stand there for all of us to view. this is a very powerful image, and you did a great job, B&W, the lighting, compostion, contrast..would love to see her face would be all I would have done differently, but that may have been her choice...
STRONG STRONG WOMAN!! wishing you well~ |

Breast Cancer.by Dona_kComment by eamurdock: I want to like this photo, and I applaud you taking on a difficult subject. Unfortunately the technicals in this photo are not very good, and I can't ignore that...
It appears to have been lit through a venetian blind; this is causing subtle horizonal stripes throughout. The robe is far too reflective, and has many blown out parts. Focus is poor and the image is noisy.
Hope this isn't too harsh... I wish you and your model the best. |

Breast Cancer.by Dona_kComment by levyj413: Wow - that's a powerful photo of a brave subject. Good for you both!
However, this has a very clinical feel to it, like "here they are" or rather, "here they aren't." That presentation robs some of the power from the shot. |

Breast Cancer.by Dona_kComment by carofo: Your subject is a strong one. I think it is too bad you included the mirror in the shot if did not intend to use it more to play with the reflection. Right where it is, I find it distracting from the great subject you chose: the lack of symmetry where we would be expecting it. |

The Biscuitby Dona_kComment by Jedusi: Lovely looking dog - I think you needed the grass inthe middle panel the same as the outside panels for added continuity though. |

Breast Cancer.by Dona_kComment by SJCarter: This took balls - I admire that. Whether you are the model or not, the model put herself out there "as is" for the public to see, and I thank you for that. (My mother was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer 5 years ago. Thankfully, she's doing well with no sign of cancer anymore; however, it's a constant companion now.) The photograph itself is a little on the rough side (from a technical aspect), but I do think the rawness of the image supports the subject. This meets the challenge in a very poignant manner. |
