I like the close crop on her face. The dark background gives the picture an overall "dark" look, which coupled with the expression on her face, makes it feel like very serious portrait. This is not a bad thing at all. It makes for a portrait that conveys a very serious tone. The lighting looks good. You might want to bump the brightness and saturation a tiny bit. I'd probably tweak it with curves a tiny bit and see what results.

Amazing. I would say the only thing that could have been better would have been brighter eyes but it is still great. 10

Nice title. I had come into this challenge expecting to feel negative about shots that used a color surround to emphasize a colorless subject, but this shot has sown me it is a perfectly valid approach if used well. Which it certainly is here...

The focus seems to rest on the nose and not the eyes, and you really needed a bit more light on the eyes. I would also suggest cropping in the sides to put the focus on the eyes and the color.

With the vivid green of the head covering, the eyes kind of sink back. They seem slightly out of focus to me. I'd rather see the eyes un-really green and in sharp focus. Just my taste.
