Purples Topby seebrownComment by SandyP: This is awesome! It looks like your subject has worked its way up out of that beautiful soft bokeh. I love the circles of pointed light in the background too! Definitely one of the best flower photos in the challenge! |

Purples Topby seebrownComment by AilurophileDJ: I think I would've liked it better if the entire flower is showing, it would be really cool to see the textures of the stem instead of out of focus. |

Dimensional Spaceby seebrownComment by seebrown: First .. thanks for the great comments from everyone .. and now a little on how this shot was taken:
Used an external flash and a 0.5x Raynox wide angle lens (which gives the rooms that strange curved feeling). The room was initially lit with just a little ambient light (from an open door and a window that I had covered with a curtain). The flash was pointed straight up at the ceiling so as to illuminate the ball via more ambient light. I set the camera on a stand roughly in the middle of the room and set the shutter length to 1/5. Put the camera on a timer and threw the ball toward the wall. Flash goes off capturing the ball, the streak was caused by the "extra" shutter time after the flash. This gave the illusion that the ball was coming off the wall .. however it was actually being thrown toward the wall.
Post processing:
-Issolated the ball the walls and the floor
-Played with the levels on each seperately
-Changed the colour tone on the ball (the ball is actually purple not blue)
-Changed the colour tone of the walls (the walls aren't really so yellow)
-Used a dust and scratch's filter on the whole image to give it a surreal feel Message edited by author 2006-06-12 03:34:24. |
