Guardian of The Realmby GiorgioComment by batmaing: The setup is great here. It almost reminds me of a something Tim Burton might use for one of his claymation movies. :) Great lighting, great composition, great DOF. Well done! |

Last one I promise!by GiorgioComment by Rikki: Greeting from the Critique Club
First of all I must say, like everyone else perhaps, your model looks strikingly great for someone who has been up since 4am ;)
On to the show. The overall tonalities of this image struck me best at first. As my eye pans around the image, mostly on her face of course, the contrast and tonalities are spot on. I really do like the approach of using BW for this image. The smoothness in her skin is evident and the texture in her hair is quite rich and pleasing to the eye.
My only drawback is the background. IMHO, had it been all white, this would have probably been a higher rated image. I would probably add anywhere between a .1 to a .3 to this image. It is almost a high key image and I'm quite fond of it myself and so are a few folks here on DPC. There is a hot spot on her left hand but nothing really to downgarde this beautiful image.
Overall I think your score reflects your protrayal of this image for this challenge. I love the image and rated it fairly high (8). Keep on shooting and I can't wait to see more of your work.

Guardian of The Realmby GiorgioComment by olbol: Wicked. I love the conflict of comfy and warm orange with the desolation of the matchstick. A bit less centre-feel would improve it even further. |

Guardian of The Realmby GiorgioComment by dahkota: Excellent shallow depth of field but I'm left wondering - why? Why are there burnt matches stuck in oranges? The image quality is excellent but with such disparate parts I'm left wondering what might be the significance, I feel I don't get the joke or the point. Is there one? A title that better explains what the image is about would work better for me. Of course, if it is just burnt matches stuck in oranges than maybe burnt matches would work. :) Anyway, technicals - excellent, meets the challenge - excellent, emotion/affinity/connection - not so good for me. 6 - good luck in the challenge! |
