Feathers from an Angelby judojoeComment by Nuzzer: 5: good idea but I think having the girl AND the feather is too much for zen - or perhaps crop so we have her face blowing the feather only? |

Reflectionsby judojoeComment by Ken: Nice abstract image, but it's hard to distinguish what is subject and what is background. |

Feathers from an Angelby judojoeComment by skewsme: Lovely, except for the make-up. For this challenge, however, maybe you could have restricted the shot to only the floating feathers ;-) |

Feathers from an Angelby judojoeComment by LucidLotus: Lovely model and a great picture. I'm having a tough time feeling zen about it as a viewer though. I think the lighting is great and the composition is very nice for a portrait. The focus seems a skosh soft in some areas and some detail is lost in that respect. From a zen standpoint I find the image VERY busy precisely because of the elaborateness of the girl's outfit. I don't feel at peace or serene looking at the image as a whole simply because there's so much detail in the feathers and the mottled background. That said I think a closeup of the girl's face, blowing the feather would be fairly zen to me. The stillness of the feather floating in the air and the removal of all the extreneous outfit details would simplify the image and that I think would go a long way to giving it more zen. That is of course just my opinion. I gave a 6. |

Lyndsey-Roses.jpgby judojoeComment by ShannonLee: gorgeous! perfect use of the selective coloring, in my opinion the picture would not be as strong without it, so good choice :). a lovellllly moment in time!! nice lighting as well :) |

Reflectionsby judojoeComment by quiche: Interesting texture that could be a cool layer of an abstract photo collage, but not strong enough to be a standalone photo. |

Saving Private Ryanby judojoeComment by vxpra: First let me say I would've given you a "1" here's why
1) They didn't have M-16's in WWII
2) A couple of these guys look British- one appears to be carrying an SA80- also not around in World War II.
3) The sand is clearly out of scale with the rest of the image
4) Ever since Toy Story I get the willies just seeing these guys
5) The helmet for the guy on the left is just all wrong, wrong wrong wrong!
Okay, so now you're saying- what a D***. In reality I like the shot, it clearly took some planning and thought. I like the shallow DOF adds to the illusion. I probably would have given you a 7 just for making me laugh and then a bonus of 1 for coming up with the idea, so an 8. Hopefully when you read #4 you picked up on the joke before calling me names. Keep shooting and having fun with it. DPC needs more out of the box thinkers- in fact everywhere does.
