Light Roseby JaimesonComment by LoudDog: Seems a little soft all over and the colors don't feel right. The sky should be more blue and the leaf should be more green. Also, it lacks a subject. A bug, or a more interesting part of the flower would be good. |

Orange Petalsby JaimesonComment by LeeD: Maybe just a hair more contrast... possibly increase saturation ever so slightly. The focus seems a little soft (like the first image). Overall I really like this. Great shot!!! |

Light Roseby JaimesonComment by LeeD: I really really like this one the colors are great and I really like the way you have composed the lighting. It feels like the flower is "reaching" for the light. The focus seems just a touch soft IMHO.
Adjusting for more blue in the sky may give it just a little more punch also. I can't decide whether or not I like the trees in the background or not. |

Orange Petalsby JaimesonComment by jbsmithana: I like the DOF and color on this one, very soothing. Some may not like the nearest part of the image being out of focus but I think it works well. Would make a nice card. |

Watch Dogby JaimesonComment by Jutilda: I'm a lover of the dark pictures and this certainly is among those. The lack of light makes your eye yearn for what light is there and this brings you directly to his watchful eye. Good job. |

Spikesby JaimesonComment by tristalisk: I would have to clssify this a side lighting. The shadow near the base of the flower and the slight shadow from the thorns givwe away the direction the light is coming from. However another classification of lighting could be ambeint lighting. Ambeint lighting would appear to have no direction and would evenly light the entire subject. This type of lighting is commonly used in shooting jewelry and other shiney objects. Ambeint lighting is very usefull fur reducing glare on reflective surfaces. But it does tend to give a bit of a flat two dimintional feel to the photo. Very pretty shot. |

Watch Dogby JaimesonComment by tristalisk: Yes this would be spot lighting. It draws the veiwer straight to the subject. It also gives you more of a personal feeling than other lighting. Only the lighted subject is available. This is probably one of the most emotional forms of lighting. Very nice example. |
