A True Black Beautyby olddjComment by Melethia: Another good action capture. You may want to try this again when you can try motion panning to blur the background. |

A True Black Beautyby olddjComment by olddj: Sorry, I posted this in a forum, but not here, which was a bit silly!! LOL We took these in the late dusk time on Sunday night, just thought of it then, do NOT ask me why!! Anyway, took about fifty shots and used the best two we had, one for me and one for jorr!! Knew going in we should have reshot them, but kinda late by then and I needed an entry, so for these entries, we DO understand what we did incorrectly!

A True Black Beautyby olddjComment by JH: Great capture, and in mid-air as well. Nice timing!
What lets it down for me is the on-camera flash, which creates the very harsh shadows in the background (around the dog, and behind the stick he's jumping) - Try shooting late afternoon with no flash, the lighting will be in your favour. |

First Posing Sessionby olddjComment by yanko: Hopefully some of the studio experts will take the time to comment on your photo. I am just a rank amateur but I thought I'd at least offer you some feedback in case you get none.
First impressions:
- I like the pose.
- Good color.
- The focus works.
- She young looking and natural so not going overboard in the processing works here.
- And I like the composition in general.
Things I'd look to try out/fix if it were me:
- Lose the necklace. Either that or use a smaller one so that it doesn't cut off at the bottom. Also it detracts in general IMO so I'd probably just go with something less eye catching.
- Darken the background more or lighten it up. As is her blouse does not quite blend into the background although it nearly does on my end. The fact that this is so makes it a bit of a distraction for me. I personally would make it darker to blend perfectly with her blouse.
- She has nice long hair, which to me seems like a golden opportunity (pardon the pun) to add some real impact to the shot. Such as having her off to the left and her hair flow through the frame to the right.
Anyway, those are just some thoughts. Good luck and I hope you do well! |

A True Black Beautyby olddjComment by SandyP: I love this photo Jacque! I'm sorry it only got a 4.5. I'm thinking like Obsidian. It's a great photo, but maybe the background hurt you a little. I just love the dog tho! Great capture!!

First Posing Sessionby olddjComment by JayWalk: Dark shirt and dark background do not work well in this pic. Also use of a hair light would have brightened the top of her head creating a more even look. |

A True Black Beautyby olddjComment by obsidian: A strong composition with very sharp relief of the subject. Good detail on the dog but overall the background seems to get in the way of the picture itself. Maybe a flash diffuser would have helped here and blurring some of the background to make the dog realy stand out? |

A True Black Beautyby olddjComment by xianart: a nice snap, but the harsh flash light brings it down. if you had darkened the backround, to get rid of the harsh shadows and increased emphasis on the dog and pole, it would really improve the shot. also, a bit of burning on the right side of the pose would help. |
