Day-16.jpgby KenComment by karmat: The focus may be a bit off, but in this shot, it looks more soft than oof. I like the swirl of the petals. That adds a lot of interest to the shot. |

Day-16.jpgby KenComment by suiteness: there's something so curious about this! i can't stop looking at it! is the the curling back of the petals? is it the repetition in the BG? is it the way the flower seems to spiral? is it the color? i think its the combo of all these things... good job! |

Day-16.jpgby KenComment by colorcarnival: well you do put a lot of effort into getting your pics. I am pretty sure I am not gonna get on the ground like that to get a shot. I guess I am not devoted enough. lol
I really like this shot. I love the diagonal and the set of two. It looks almost like one is the reflection of the other. Love the softness of the petals and excellent color as well. |

Day-12.jpgby KenComment by citymars: I think you did a really good job with the HDR/tonemapping. To me it's quite subtle. I also respect your decision not to square crop, though there's some space to the left you might have cropped (though it would have left you with a very non-standard crop!). |

Day-14.jpgby KenComment by citymars: Beautiful time of day for such festive lights. Good job on the exposure. The roads a little drab, it would be nice to have an object of interest in the foreground with the booths, etc., as backdrop.
I'm jealous of your wide lens -- another reason to think about getting a DSLR. I agree, cropping is a shame in this case. You might also try resizing without keeping the correct aspect ratio, though you'd end up with a mighty distorted photo.
PS: I looked up "Elephant Ears" -- it's fried dough, right? I only knew the flora and fauna varieties. |

Day-15.jpgby KenComment by citymars: Looks like a beautiful summer day. Good exposure, you've got sand, sky, water (not to mention people) with nothing over or under exposed (I think the brightest spot is that guy's back).
Twenty years ago I went to a sand building contest in Hawaii -- I was knocked out by the professional looking entries there. |
