Very nice shot. The focus is tack sharp and the details of the feathers are well demonstrated. The very bottom edge of the feathers has a odd gray edge. The black background has a couple areas that needed to be cloned due to hot spots or white specks. Overall a very nice entry - just wish more time had been taken to clean up the background as this was advanced editing and simple cloning would have corrected it.

A very nice photo, shows there's much more to a rose than just the flower. The mottled light on the leaves is beautiful and the just out-of-focus flower works very well. The color saturation is great, and I assume the yellowish tint is deliberate (adding a feeling of warmth).

This is a sweet and good photo... on cnn tonight there is a report about ducklings being beat to death and the mother hurt as well ... that teen who did the deed and his friends who laughed are blind to the beauty our wildlife friends provide us... ..... so sad

Love the DOF on this one and the lonely feeling of the small chickadee in the big open space. I'd probably crop a little more off one side or the other though, to move him out of the dead center - IMHO it would add more interest to the viewer if you went with the rule of thirds on this one. :-) Great eye for spotting the little guy & capturing him so well!

I like the portrait, but it looks like you may have used a bit too much noise removal. Color and lighting are very good. You're definitely getting better as this lighting thing :-)
