This is very neat. I love that deep teal color of the water, and the details her are crisp and interesting. I also think he is well placed in the frame. The rocks in the front are a bit too bright, but don't detract very much at all from the shot overall. You've captured a great expression, and this photo is worthy of it's two favorites.

Great job! A nicely executed photo. Beautiful color on that bird. Excellent technical merit. However, I do not see how this meets the challenge, as there is no hint at beach in this photo, and it isn't fair to me as a voter to have to imagine that this was taken on a beach somewhere. Even so, a water shot, or even a shoreline shot, does not always mean 'beach' in my opinion. And meeting the challenge, to me, is the first and most important thing, if that isn't done, then anything else is unimportant. Doesn't mean it's not a beautiful and creative shot, because in this case, it absolutely is! I do love it! I went back and forth on how to score your pic, but I do vote low for those that I don't think meet the challenge, so to be consistant, I am voting this lower than I want for the reasons stated above.
