IMG_4955.jpgby renegade1966Comment by rox_rox: What a quaint and interesting building! And there are so many of them in your area. I'm envious. Certainly you will get some better advice than mine. But, since you asked... I would try to go back right at dusk and take a shorter exposure so that the lights are not so blown out. Then you could darken it to make it look like a night shot. If you can go back, you might try to get a slightly different angle that doesn't include the tree in front of the roof. It's really a neat location, and well worth photographing, IMHO. |

Day 7: "Old Bridge"by renegade1966Comment by posthumous: I think this is a successful landscape. I get a nice impression of the size and scope of the bridge, thanks to the foreground elements. I think you found just the right balance of foreground to background. Also, this looks like a night shot with a long exposure. That creates an interesting sky color and also brings out nice colors in the bridge (and in general I like the blues greens and reds here). It looks like there's some kind of dam(?) next to the bridge. This creates another perspective line that I think adds interest to the shot, though some will probably tell you it distracts from the bridge. I myself am not that easily distracted. In fact, I look for extra elements. As long as they interact in an interesting way, extra elements generally make a picture more rich.
If I had asked you for a picture of the bridge, for example, I would be very happy with this shot. As you might be able to tell, though, I'm not "wowed" by the shot, but I do think it's well done. Message edited by author 2006-10-23 11:21:32. |
