My first thought was "What's happened?". Had a fall? Being taunted by other children? Missing mummy? As a mother of a seven year old myself, a sullen expression like this breaks my heart. I want to rush over to the child and scoop him(?) up in my arms to comfort. The darkness seems to compound the sadness.

It's funny isn't it which photos drive people to comment. There's a certain zeitgeist at work, or something. It's a dramatically graphic photo. I wonder what the symbolism is in it which drives people to like it so much. Nice one..

I agree, your contrasts are excellent. The only thing for me tho is that I am not sure what to focus on in the pic. There is so much going on and I guess I am somebody who likes to look for a story in a pic. I would, however, very much like to be the woman just kind of laying there in the sun. That seems like a nice and relaxing thing to do right now.

Very very cool indeed! I like this a lot but I might crop the right side a little as to bring the focus of the juxtaposition between "Dennis Hopper" and the figure more into play ... if you know what I mean. Great take!

Overall, a pretty shot. The light spot is nicely on the girl's face, raising the natural contrast, and the woman's silhouette in the top right "makes" this shot by adding a semantic contrast. But I think that it's too tight in the frame, I'm wishing for a wider angle version of the same shot.

Yikes!!!!! Now that's something you wouldn't want to run into in one of your urban street scenes. But it is very interesting, and of course, like all of yours, it is very well taken and processed! In a haunting sort of way. Any story behind this one????
