Now this is lighting. A rather beautiful image too, although I can't see it getting very far past the flower police, but I've been wrong many times. great depth and texture to the flower, great use of the technique.

Greetings from the CC, a wonderful shot, the black bachground helps the viewer to focus their attn on the lighted area, I like that you only did one shoe, again forcing us to notice the detail here. The composition of the second shoe is well done, making for a relaxed posture supporting the 'old' title. The lighting too is very well done, it is soft yet not dark, no details are obscured by dark. My only small criticism (being that I am suppose to critique : )) would be the choice generally of 'boots' generally a non-emotional subject matter, I think in this challenge it works because it keeps the focus on the 'light' but I think it is always important consider the actual appeal and emotional impact potential of a subject. Again here I think a subtle subject helps viewer to focus, but just a thought.
Very well done technically, keep shooting!!

beautiful, the best string/needle in this challenge! why? because you have an excellent depth of field, your picture is simple, the colors of the background middle ground and foreground are all linked on the same color! wow! i would have been proud to take this picture. ------->(9)

Nice! Good choice for the challenge. Good DOF (Maybe an idea for the DOF Challenge...) and nice lighting setup. Maybe a tiny bit sharper would be nice (IMO) to bring out a wee bit more detail in the needle and the beginning of the thread.

I would have liked the reel to have been a bit closer, or a shade more in focus. The wee white spot/mark on the blue thread is a little offputting. Good shot though! 8
