Running from the Wavesby DrAchooComment by rjhawkin: I would have gotten down lower for this shot. the camera is above the head of the subject, looking down on them. Ive found keeping the camera about mid-line on your subject helps the best. It might have been good to see the color in the picture, but then gain maybe not. At least the subject is framed against a darker object in the background. |

The way is straight, and the path is wrought fair... by DrAchooComment by thinktank: I am just a newbie..was just wondering how the shot would look like if taken such that the middle section is unsymmetrical. Another thing that struck me was to take the shot such that the upper(i.e. the leaves and branches) and the bottom(ground) section approach infinity in a symmetrical manner. I think it would look cute..that way...Anyways I like the colors a lot..however you didn't mention the photoshop steps.. Message edited by author 2007-08-05 15:10:31. |

The way is straight, and the path is wrought fair... by DrAchooComment by charliebaker: Jason, you're making me a little "green" with your gorgeous entry. I just got back from a week hiking in the Olympic National Park with our family to find you scattered across the homepage. Congrats on your two blue ribbons, in this challenge and the faceless emotion in the same week! |

I'm in LOVE! by DrAchooComment by Dirt_Diver: I read some of your thread and stopped because I started getting upset that people on this site are absolutely ridiculous. I think it's great that it took you 130 shots to get it right and that you shared it with your team to perfect it. I think ALL 72 teams did the same thing as well. Just because you have 10+ ribbons does not make you a professional in photography in any case it just means you know what people like and have a wonderful camera to take the shot in mind. Creativity plays a huge part on this site and people fail to realize that when it comes to a challenge. I think Scalvert said it best in one of his threads that you have to shoot something that isn't everyday normal things. "Do something that stands out and it will gain the votes" (Or something along that line).
Anyway you guys are awesome and I admire "The Ribbon Hogs" Someday I hope that I shall be a Ribbon Hog and just so I can take some under my wing and try to help them become a great also.
Congrats on your new blue. It was well deserved.
