Taken at a day outing with the family at a beach called Hug Point in Oregon.

Processing includes a tonemapped layer which is masked off except for the trees to give a little detail there. Channel mixer used for the B&Ws. A multiply layer was used to make the sky even darker (although I got a nice polarized sky due to shooting 90 degrees to the sun). Some burn at the bottom and a gradient to make Laine stand out more and USM.

Such a perfect summertime moment captured here. I love the scenic background but think it would have more impact if the child was a little bit closer to the viewer (bigger in the photo somehow). 9

I would have gotten down lower for this shot. the camera is above the head of the subject, looking down on them. Ive found keeping the camera about mid-line on your subject helps the best. It might have been good to see the color in the picture, but then gain maybe not. At least the subject is framed against a darker object in the background.

This would make such a wonderful large print. The clarity is superb and the BW was the perfect choice. Nice job.

Very nice. But I dont' care for the dark upper left hand corner too much. Still a great photo worth a 7.

I love this in black and white. It's so dramatic, and the scale that the little runner gives this is truly beautiful!
