Maybe it's my monitor, but this doesn't seem very contrasty to me.. but I do see a lot of potential here as you have pattern/repetition, lines and a good center of interest. Is there any way you can shoot this from a building across the way?

This is one of thouse shots that are simply.............hmmmmm............Very Very Cool. It has a simplistic, gaudy flair to it and I think it rocks! Great use of muted tones Good luck!

iIt's a nice composition , but not very inspiring to me. It seems rather underexposed. I can barely make out the lattice. I just calibrated my own monitor, so I believe it is correct. You may want to check into it too.

I like the way you posed the shoe with the flowing laces.
If you are going to use a thin bed sheet as a backdrop, it is important that you iron out the creases in to to achieve an even backdrop. The backlighting is interesting, but you have not made this image a silhouette, thus there needed to be a light to counterbalance in the front. Right now the viewer is aware that details exist, but cannot quite grasp them.
