Processing: ok. Some of the lighter parts seem unnaturally light for some reason. The far shoulder really draws my attention away from the face. The person is in a convincing pose with just the right amount of sadness expressed. I'm a bit puzzled about why someone so young should be so sad about a woman that died in 1904. The life of the (presumed)ancestor made the life of the person possible. Shouldn't the living rejoice instead?

personally I do not fancy the crop but it is such a powerful image that one can only see the greatness.

For this contest everyone who has the word âcircleâ in their title is getting a max 10 score. This is a copy and paste version that I am including in every photo that I upgrade to 10 due to the title. We as members of DPchallenge need to be reminded of the topic of the challenge â we really need to reread the topic every time we reach a photo. If circle is in the title and it is appropriate I will give a 10. I am sorry if you do not agree with my method of voting â but scores are all I have.

Comment by CEJ:
I just don't get family from this shot. Especially since the person in the shot could never have known the person in the grave. I do get a sense of despair, depression, loneliness, detachment. All great to be conveyed by a photo. But I just don't get family.

I'm not real sure what about this photo deserved 1's and 2's. But I suppose to each his own and to each his own 1 to 10 scale. ;)

Thanks for all the comments!

Nice moody image! Lighting is harsh, but it kinda works here. Nice job.

Comment by digitalknight:
sad photo, evokes lots of emotion, but doesn't say "family" to me
