Everwinterby dw_photoComment by ShutterPug: I do not see how this has taken a fantasy and been portrayed as a reality through photography. It just looks like a picture of a tree line, with an over exposed sky. |

Everwinterby dw_photoComment by melismatica: I don't know. This seems like shoehorning to fit the challenge. I think if there were less shadow and more sparkle and light eminating from the snow on the trees this scene would appear more magical. This just doesn't stand out for me as an extraordinary view of snow. |

Bee Sharpby dw_photoComment by muckpond: i like the angle. the selective desaturation doesn't do a whole lot for me, though. great focus and dof. |

Everwinterby dw_photoComment by sherpet: I like the feeling in this image and the light shining through the trees..... Is it a fantasy, swinging on this on. |

Bee Sharpby dw_photoComment by emorgan49: I dont understand why the tilt and the desaturated background add to the image of the bee and the flower. Is it to emphasize the pointy leaves? Or make the blue of the flower stand out more? TO make it look dead? Windblown? |

Bee Sharpby dw_photoComment by Artyste: Nice desat work. I think it was a good choice given the busy background. Might fall prey to the anti-desat league. |

Around the Lakeby dw_photoComment by Bear_Music: Very clean and crisp. A little muddy in the densest portion of the trees, the snow may be a little too gray. Nicely seen, regardless. |

Around the Lakeby dw_photoComment by glad2badad: You did a good job getting there before the kids tracked up the snow. ;^)
As for the image: I like your composition with the path positioned as it is for a nice leading line. Nice balance of negative space with the lower left being just snow. The lighting worked well for you with the overcast skies. Lighting and exposure are good on this challenging subject (snow)... the snow looks exposed properly, especially when you look at the highlighted areas that are picking up sunlight from the bottom right. You might want to double-check by using the B/W points and selecting the snow on the pine branches (center of image) as your white point.
Did you take any shots from here in portrait mode? Might be interesting...
Smile and keep having fun! ;^) |
