Jaguerby CalliopeKelComment by Jutilda: I like the almost metallic sense of it. The mid tones are great. I like it but maybe my eye isn't as discerning as others'. Beautiful work to my way of thinking. |

Jaguerby CalliopeKelComment by aznym: Is she cautious, afraid or angry? None of that? It's impossible to avoid her eyes.
Great portrait. |

Jaguerby CalliopeKelComment by Pixlmaker: Wow! I've seen a ton of your pictures, and this is one of the best. The expression, the lighting, the contrast, it's very sharp--should I go on? :o) Oh yeah, her eyes rock! Okay, I'll stop now. Excellent... |

Berries n Creamby CalliopeKelComment by Jutilda: It doesn't seem flat to me. I see it coming from the left and I think it's well done. Backlighting might be fun to try though. Her eyes are perfect (as usual) Did you use a fan? |

Berries n Creamby CalliopeKelComment by pcody: The lighting should fit the purpose of the picture. So there are many ways you can decide to light a picture. None of them are either right or wrong. A good book to get, that will show many different set ups, is "Photographing People: portraits, fashion, glamour".
Something you might try, to get a feel for how your lights work, is use just one light for a while. Try placing it at different angles and heights and see how the shadows form. If you have a softbox, try the same lighting positions with and without it. Then introduce a reflector. How does that improve the picture. Generally, your second light should be used to help fill some of the shadows, but not eliminate them.
Hope this helps. I'm positive you will do a great job. I like this picture. |
