This is a pretty cool shot, but framing it a little differently would have been better. Shoot just the handle on the door, eliminating the tile and light switch would have kept the focus where it belongs.

The textures are, indeed, lovely and pronounced, although I feel that there needs to be something added to make the gas tap stand out from the wall, particularly at the bottom.The colours are stunning.

A real trompe l'oeil feel to this. I keep expecting the upright elements to pop in front of the horizontal elements. Quite a beguiling image.

For a 'Christmassy' image, the foreground works well, IMO, as it has a sort of Dickensian, workhouse kind of feel. The lighting of the buildings is wonderful and the sky is great. I'd love to be able to take a shot as good as this.
