The f/1.4 worked out beautifully for this image. In addition your processing of all these photos is fantastic. I think the black and white softness takes some of the "gross" factor out of the scene for people not directly involved. The love and gentleness in the room comes through in the photos you've taken, and this exemplifies that. What an amazing experience for you (and the family obviously), and what an amazing job you did!
