"Tabby"by mandyturnerComment by Tej: Beautiful modal. The lighting seems to be a little harsh and focus seems to little soft. All said and done, this is still a nice capture.6. |

"Tabby"by mandyturnerComment by crayon: appeared to be taken with a direct flash, but minus the side effects associated with it - nice work! this one seem to be a cross between a snapshot and a studio shot. I like it. |

Wind & Wonderby mandyturnerComment by Nald: Mandy, I gave this a 9 during voting. It's always a pleasure to see a photo of you or yours during voting. I honestly have know idea why this scored a 5.2. You are one of the most inspiring photographers on this site IMHO. Keep your chin up girl YOU ROCK! |

"Tabby"by mandyturnerComment by Skip: this would be getting killed because of composition, pose, expression, and possibly lighting. she has taken herself out of the image, which, consequently, takes the viewers out with her. cropped from just below the chin up, and with her chin slightly turned towards the camera, and you'd probably see a full point improvement in your score. she's made up well and has nice eyes; there's potential here, just not in this challenge. |

well traveledby mandyturnerComment by nova: I also think your score suffered a bit because the object isn't readily identifiable as a tire. I might have guessed it were the bottom of a boot, just based on the title. I DO like the tonal range, from the very dark in the upper left to the rather bright in the lower right. I think the image suffers from the lack of sharp focus to the right of the line that runs from top right to bottom center... is that the edge of the tire? If so it looks like everything to the right of that is beyond the very shallow depth of field. That line of the tire-edge itself is also working agains the image IMO, dividing the photo into two disconnected sections.
Last suggestion: I think you should include the technical details (shutter speed, aperture, ISO, etc) in your submissions. It can be helpful for viewers for learning and for commentors when critiquing.
I didn't score this image, but would have given it a "6". It does communicate "texture" but IMO is a very subtle representation of that idea; not a bad thing, but not a contender to me. |

just a friendby mandyturnerComment by mandyturner: Originally posted by dahkota: I'm not bigoted against toys or barbie or anything but, I would score this image a lot higher if it was a person. The composition and point of view are excellent. But its a barbie doll. Also, on my monitor at work, it seems a little blurry. |
this was for the toy challenge? |
