Love Hurts.by SimmsComment by tommyd65: Cool idea! I had a hard time making out the blood at first glance. Perhaps placing the flower in a pool of blood would emphasize it more? |

Love Hurts.by SimmsComment by scuds: Wonder why ppl use catchup! Why not using chicken blood or whatever, from eatable stuff. It adds a more natural look to it at least! |

Early Morning Torchlight by SimmsComment by Simplicity: Now this turned out simply awesome! You did a wonderful job on this shot. The lighting is great. Actually looks like this is done outdoors on some beautiful landscaping. Great job...and congratulations! |

FIRST IMPRESSION: Interesting textures but odd lighting.
CHALLENGE: Meets the challenge.
COMPOSITION: The composition is good, however the lighting draws the viewer's attention to the rock in the background rather than to the cockroach that is your main subject. This shot would have worked better (in my opinion) if the insect were in the light, so that the viewer's eye was drawn to the subject. In particular I find it disturbing that I can barely even see the head.
TECHNICAL: Exposure is good, depth of field draws the viewer back in to the subject but seems to conflict with the lighting.
CONCLUSION: Not a bad shot, probably the best you were able to do under the circumstances, but I wonder if with some patience you may have captured the insect in a better position.
Thanks for sharing and good luck in future challenges! |

Periplaneta brunneaby SimmsComment by Swashbuckler: It's a bug! I know you didn't have a lot of lighting control, but the issues around this photo are mostly lighting related. The head is too shadowed, the rear is overly glarish. Clarity is good, where the lighting allows it. 6 Rob the Swash |
