He has a wonderful face. I like the beard stubble :) I don't care for how his collar fades into the border and I would have prefered a little more space above his hat. Emotive.. makes me smile.. and want to listen to his stories of "how it was back in his time" :)

Challenge link: strong. This cenario is very familiar to me! ; )

Image critique: I love the compostion here and the cat's angle is just great - that pose where the tail flicks a bit as they wait around letting all the cold air in! My main problem with this is the destruction of your image in a gimmicky treatment. The effect on the door fram is nice, but the rest becomes too distressed and undoes your good work. I'd have preferred simply a harsh, contrasty black & white of this.

Will probably be voted low because of the FX.

Out of challenge interest: yes, fairly strong as an image.

yep -- been there! I like the wild effect - keeps what could be a boring shot interesting. Minor nit - florr pattern lower left competes with the details on the cat (suggest cloning out??) As presented - one of my favorites this challenge. Extra markes for creativitiy
