Intimate Settingby aboutimageComment by AlexMonty: Sorry to say this, as I'm sure you'll have plenty of similar comments, but this isn't a close up OR a macro. I can understand some people submitting close ups (ie: not TRUE macros) but this is more like a tightly cropped still life to me.
That said, this is a very pleasant photo :) it conveys a great mood and the tones are wonderful. The reflections on the glass aren't too imposing and glary and you've manage to stay out of reflections way. Maybe a slightly tighter crop would have been better here as there's some unaccounted for space on the left hand side. Nice shot but it doesn't meet the challenge.
4 (if it met the challenge I would have given it a 7)

Intimate Settingby aboutimageComment by dwterry: The images that always suffer due to lack of comments are the ones that are right in the middle ground. Everyone comments on the awesome shots. Some comment on the bad shots. But the middle ones, very few people say anything. So here I am to explain why I voted a 5:
I like this image... I just didn't feel that it is either close up or macro. A close-up might have included just the top portion of the glass, for example. Instead, I see 3 objects on a table, a grate (or fence) and even a house in the background.
The image itself is nice and I even like the tone you've applied. I just don't feel it fits the challenge. But I'd hate to vote such a lovely image down... so I'm going for the middle ground with a 5. Hope you'll understand.

Intimate Settingby aboutimageComment by Kathryn8: I love the look and I want that glass!! .The only suggestion I would make is next time to leave more room beneath the glass and the bottom of the photo....it looks cropped too close. Great work and atmosphere I absolutely love the tones....maybe you will explain exactly how you got that tone after the challenge. |

Intimate Settingby aboutimageComment by dahkota: beautiful tonal range and clarity. Composition well done. Have a feeling this might suffer at the hands of the voters but I love it. Good luck - 9 from me! |

Intimate Settingby aboutimageComment by hyperfocal: I realize that "macro" description is subjective, but I would classify this as a still life. However I will not drop the score on such a subjective interpretation. Good work. |
