Great idea and good DOF on the foreground. I like your composition, but think that if the gorilla was a little more visible the image might have a stronger impact. As it is, he/she is almost lost - and I realize that conscious artistic choices were made to "hide" him/her in the "jungle" as would be found in the real world, but I think you could still get that point across with a little more visibility. Still, it's a very powerful image - full of emotion. Nice job.

I like the composition. Your other flower shot seems to have come out of Photoshop a little nicer along the edges. The backgroung might have been more useful on this shot than the other, or at least something to tie the flowers in together. As far as picture quality, this is awesome! The colors came out so vivid, and the flowers very sharp. Nicely done!

David, I think this is an excellent photo. Your photoshop work turned out really well. As far as having/not having the background, I think they both have a place. It all depends on the shot, and what it is going to be used for. This photo turned out excellent. The colors are really nice and the empty space is very effective.
