It's the only Brick house on the leftby CreativeFlyPhotoComment by carolee: Lovely portrait! I just want to add, after having looked at this photo again and again over the week, that this is definitely a great example of everything a photo in this challenge should be, in my opinion. The colors are rich, the composition is interesting and keeps the eye moving, and the title adds a neat personal descriptiveness that you don't otherwise get. The white sky on the right is a bit blown out, which is a peeve of mine, but I'm changing my score on this from a 9 to a 10 because I really hope to see it in first place! Well done! :) |

I'm Ready For My Close Upby CreativeFlyPhotoComment by Kavey: Critique Club
Initial thoughts
Fantastic image with lovely clean background.
Composition/ Content
I really like both the content and composition here. I think the low perspective really shows off the wonderful texture of his scales and the subject really lends itself beautifully to b/w. I really like the shallow DOF though Iâd like the focal point bought forward so that the tip of his nose/ mouth is in focus and the area that is out of focus starts slightly further forward on his neck â that would highlight the shallow DOF more though so it depends if thatâs what you wanted to do.
Background
I love the background â although itâs beautifully clean and plain there are vague hints of shading and light which add interest.
Camera Work - Technical
Some of the whites are just a little too blown out for my preferences â particularly on his left âkneeâ and at the lower left of his face (to the right in the frame as we look at it).
Fits The Challenge
Excellently.
My Opinion On The Photo
I really like this image â I think itâs well taken and very striking.
