Okay, I'll be perfectly honest. In the thumbnail, it looked very "wow", but then on the large version, not so good. The lines weren't even trying to be straight, and I usually think on this type of photo, they need to be. I see how maybe (and this is just my guess), that you thought that the checkers should be askew because of the stem of the glass not being straight. I personally think one or the other is enough--you don't need both to be not straight on a type of photo like this.

I give this a 6.

Clever photo and title...to bad it's the truth. Living in Las Vegas and working in Emergency Medicine...we get a lot of calls for people whom have had their drinks 'spiked' with other then alcohol.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

This is a fun image, and I think it's pretty effective in trying to "taste" a bit abstract. I like the strong light from the left, which implied a negative space and endows by its overexposure in places the noodles with some special-ness. The fork is also well placed in the frame, on a third, and there is some negative space at lower right that helps to take my mind beyond the photo to think of profound things.

This is a high key photo, and a duotone. The high key does help sell the product, but the duotone, while creating some interesting lines and textures for the abstract food challenge, does little to make the noodles appetizing (of course, that was not your aim here).

The depth of field is well used, though you could even open the lens wider if you wanted to create more blur, and add more negative space--and hence more thought--to the photo.

All in all, this is a nice shot. Congratulations!

David

I like the contrast between the lopsided stem and the regular, square background.
