A New Bloomby mahobbesComment by snapz: Nice DOF. I love the single red tulip in there. I'd be interested to see a wider shot. Nice job. GL in this challenge. |

Looking into the Blueby mahobbesComment by carpents: Rating (and critiquing) pictures of statues is tough, because I like to see something added in the photograph that extends the original intent of the sculptor. I think the angle addresses this, but only slightly. Perhaps this would have performed better with a dramatic thunderstorm in the background, or a rainbow, or a sunburst coming through a cloud, to add new meaning and context to the image.
As it is, the technical aspects of the shot are fine, and it isn't an unpleasant image. I would have pegged it at a 5 or 6. |

Looking into the Blueby mahobbesComment by ShotMD: Composition: There is great placement of the subject in the rule of thirds placement. The leading lines created by the cross also guide the eye back to the subject. Personally, I might have given either a tighter crop on the right or wider on the left to give some symmetry to the cross.
Subject: This is probably what made you score less then you expectedâ€Â¦ In a similar thread, I asked for feedback, and the only comments were that a static statue as a subject matter was scored down. See Here
Personally, I like your subject, but it does take a moment to visually extract the subject from the cross due to the blending color.
Hope this helps.
