the only tough part is that it's hard to get a feel for how many square feet of ground we're looking at here. this'd be a great place for a macro shot i bet, be sure and get some.

The light is very bright, which distracts somewhat. This is a great topic for the challenge, though. I wonder if a shot that shows more dried out ground and some of the horizon might have more impact. Without the title (and, granted, almost every photojournalist-type photo would have a title or caption), this could be a close-up of skin cells or something. There's not much visual indication that this is dried-out ground. muckpond

Very good shot, looks like it would appear in Natural Geographic almost, reminds me of a photographer who takes lots of aerial views of the earth and then makes these famous exhibitions in major cities, don't remember his name but this pcture reminds me of his style... Is it a photojournalism picture? I don't know anymore. I think there's a grey area and when a picture's in a grey area it shouldn't influence the score, so that will be my philosophy.. Good work!

When I look at this photo, the first thing that hits me is a similar photo of a guy crouched on the soil like the one in the photo with something in their hands and a nice caption similar to your title. The photo is well executed and meets the challenge but that first thing I wrote would be my suggestion for improvement.

Illustrates the concept, but a more horizontal angle showing more expanse might have been more effective.
