Mandalayby GermaineComment by geoffb: Hi Germaine,
I hope my post (in the blending modes thread) helps you understand the difference blending mode a bit better. You've done a great job with this image, and I think the texture you chose to blend on top of the sunset is perfect.
Thanks for going into so much detail. It's nice to read not only how an artist achieved the look they were trying to convey, but why they did so.
Edit: sunset, not subset. Message edited by author 2008-03-04 00:14:17. |

Mandalayby GermaineComment by cgino: I just love the movement in the sky created with the overlay! Almost like flames leaping up from the setting sun... cool! |

As We Wereby GermaineComment by Ecce_Signum: love it! my memory is fading but it looks like an MGB GT? with chrome overriders and wire wheels - heaven :) Just a pity there was a 'modern' car in the shot, this could have been from the 60's!
Is this the same street as the evening cyclist? and thanks for taking me back to my MGB owning daydream :)
btw, really like the photo lol. |

Mandalay (Again)by GermaineComment by Jutilda: I immediatly thought of Munch's "The Scream" although there is no bridge or person. Something about the overall feel of it and the swirls of the sky.
The screaming sky
awoke my morning eyes
to blood red and tangerine

Night Riderby GermaineComment by Ecce_Signum: Nice panning work and would have liked to have seen the cam details as well as a little comment about the shot from you. I'd have preferred the wall to be a little lighter but then you'd lose some of the great motion blur. Excellent composition in a panning shot, you clicked just at the right time. |

Night Riderby GermaineComment by tnun: Most effective: darkest rider, brightest lamp, midtones for what is blurred. And something to learn from. |
